  1. Start; 11:00am, Crow Edge Community Centre, Sheffield Road, Victoria, Nr Hepworth, HD9 7TP.
  2. From Crow Edge Community Centre, turn right along the main road, stick to the foot path. At the Victoria Inn at the cross roads turn left. Cross the road onto the minor road, no footpath – walk on the right hand side of the road, take care crossing.
  3. At White House Farm, turn right along public bridleway through the gate down the track through fields.
  4. Go through the gate at the junction of tracks and go straight across, (follow the pylons), and please shut the gate.
  5. Follow the blue arrow through the second gate, the track goes slightly downhill; you are aiming for the deserted buildings on the right.
  6. Go through small third gate down through the field towards the ruined buildings, keep the sunken lane on your left.
  7. When you reach the derelict buildings, Oxlee Farm, Oxlee Lane is directly in front of you; however it is very muddy, better to stick to the fields on the north/right hand side of the lane and pass between the derelict buildings and the wall of the lane.
  8. Go over the bridge, following the stepping stones, and then continue on the path with the wall on your left as it goes gently uphill.
  9. Pass through the rusty Iron Gate. This section of the path is much more pleasant.
  10. When you get to the road, cross over (taking care) and go along Cow Cliff Hill Road.
  11. After a few metres at the sign for the public footpath on your right go through the gate or over the stile and across the football pitches.
  12. At the corner of the field, go over the stile, the path now runs down the centre of the field.
  13. Go through the gate at the end of the field or over the stile if the gate is shut. Again follow the path down the centre of the field. The stile is slightly to the left of the gate.
  14. Again the path goes through the centre of the field; the stile is at the other end. Take the right hand stile, and turn right along the wall to another stile. Cross this into the walled lane and head left down into the village of Hepworth. The path comes on the small road through the village with the Butchers Arms on your left.
  15. Unless you plan to visit the Pub! Turn right and follow the road through the village.
  16. After a few meters, just after the Sports and Social Club, take the public footpath (sign on your left) down the field. Take care on the steps.
  17. Near the bottom of the field, cross the wall at the stile and follow the path down over the bridge over the stream, through the gate slightly up hill, for ten metres to the path, and turn left.
  18. After a few metres, take the right fork up the steps; follow the path on up the hill. Follow the yellow arrow, through the small stile; follow the steep path with the wall on your left.
  19. When you reach the main road, take care and cross the road to Meal Hill Lane, and after a few metres turn right follow public footpath ‘Kirklees Way’. (Pause get your breath back and consider how you would manage if you were down to your last £million!)
  20. At the end of the lane, turn right, steeply uphill.
  21. At the bend in the road take the right fork up the hill way-marked with a yellow arrow, along the unmade track. Follow the path round to the right. At the second hairpin bend, leave the track and follow the bridleway over the stile through the wall, by the seat.
  22. Now follow the path through the field. Go through the gate, and follow the path. This section could be quite boggy. Pass a derelict farm building on your right, and at the end of this section the lane joins with a minor road.
  23. Taking care, follow the road, and then turn right (towards the wind turbine). This lane then joins the main road with road markings on it, keep to the right hand side of the road, (no footpath). At the crossroads, follow the road around to the right, and go uphill towards the wind turbine and the ‘luxury ‘caravan on your left!
  24. Continue following the road past new farm buildings on the right hand side, and at the brow of the hill follow the road downhill as it bends around to the right. Head along Hood Royd Hill Lane towards the Victoria Inn (white building).
  25. At the top of Hood Royd Hill Lane crossroads, with the Victoria Pub (again) on your left, turn left, and follow the pavement back to Crow Edge Community Centre.
