A rider had been thrown from their horse and sustained
chest and back injuries. YAS requested our assistance to recover the patient
from the incident location to the ambulance. Using a vacuum mattress we
immobilised the patient and then transferred her to a stretcher so we could
carry her to the ambulance. The patient was subsequently transferred to hospital
for treatment.
This incident involved 9 team members, and 12.6 man hours of effort. Elapsed time 1.4 hours.
