Google Alerts

Google Alerts emails you when something new about a subject appears online. It is free and takes a minute to set up.

  1. Go to google.com/alerts and sign in with a Google account.
  2. Type what you want to follow, for example "Woodhead Mountain Rescue", "mountain rescue" "Peak District" or "Longdendale" rescue. Quotation marks keep words together.
  3. Choose Show options to pick how often you hear (as it happens, once a day or once a week), the sources, the region (United Kingdom) and how many results.
  4. Under Deliver to, choose your email address, or RSS feed to read alerts in a feed reader.
  5. Select Create alert. You can change or delete it at any time from the same page.

Please remember that early news reports about a rescue are not always accurate, and the people involved may be reading. Our own incident reports never name or identify anyone.
