Accessibility statement

How accessible the Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team website is, what still needs work, and how to report a problem.

We want everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, voice control, magnification or other assistive technology. This statement explains how accessible the site is, what we know still needs work, and how to tell us about a problem.

How accessible this website is

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. You should be able to:

  • zoom in up to 200% without the text spilling off the screen
  • move around the site using just a keyboard, with a visible focus outline
  • use the site with a screen reader
  • read every photo’s description through its alternative text
  • see the site without moving animations if your device is set to reduce motion

What we know still needs work

  • The maps on our incident log, statistics and Our area pages can’t be fully used with a keyboard or screen reader. The same information is given as text and tables on those pages.
  • Some annual reports and accounts are PDF documents published by other organisations and may not be fully accessible.
  • Our volunteer interest form is run by Microsoft Forms, and donations are taken by JustGiving. Their accessibility is managed by those companies.
  • Some older photographs have shorter descriptions than we would like. We are improving them.

We have not yet had an independent accessibility audit. We test the site ourselves on desktop and phone screens.

Tell us about a problem

If you find something on this site you can’t use, or you need information in a different format, please email [email protected]. Tell us the page and what went wrong, and we will reply as soon as we can. Our team are volunteers, so please allow a few days.

In an emergency, never use this website or email. Dial 999, ask for the Police, then Mountain Rescue. If you are deaf or have a speech impairment, you can register to text 999.
